Spring Equinox Song Circle
Hello neighbors!
You’re invited to join this cozy community of singers for a Spring Equinox Song Circle on Saturday March 28 from 7-8:30pm in Ypsilanti!
Purpose:
This seasonal offering is designed to be a peer-led song circle for lovers of singing, nature, and astrology to gather in community and sing songs relevant to the spring equinox and current cosmos. This event is co-hosted by Ypsi-based comrades, Jules and Kulkiran. All voices are welcomed and encouraged to share songs for us to sing together!
💸 Support Request:
This circle is donation-based to support the Daytime Warming Center of Washtenaw County, a local grass-roots movement to support Ypsi and Ann Arbor neighbors experiencing houselessness and hunger (learn more here; donate directly here). Thank you for giving what you can. No one turned away from lack of funds.
🌻 What to expect:
After orienting ourselves to the space, we’ll begin with a brief overview of the spring equinox and the current cosmos as it relates to collective themes with additional words of wisdom. The group will be invited into a round of introductions and check-ins for offering your name, pronouns, access needs, and intentions for the season. We’ll then shift into co-creating the community altar before participating in an optional somatic grounding practice and warming our voices up with a musical game. The space will then open for us to enjoy in a peer-led community song circle using a white board to help learn the lyrics. We’ll end with a brief gratitude and release ritual, before closing with an equinox dance song and an optional group photo.
🌱 Optional items to bring:
Personal or ancestral items for the community altar that you’ll retrieve afterwards
Songs to lead in sharing
Creature comforts (water, snacks, warm clothing, blankets/cushions)
Musical instruments to join in music making
Notebook and writing utensil to capture songs and insights
💌 RSVP here for location access. Doors open at 6:45pm and close at 7:15pm. All ages welcome. Must show receipt of registration at the door for entry. This is a COVID-conscious event; kindly stay home and rest if experiencing symptoms, thank you!
