2026 Ypsilanti Free Tree Distro

A black-and-white hand illustration of two people and a child in front of an apple tree. The adults are sharing an apple with each other as the child climbs a small ladder into the tree to get more. They are surrounded by flowers.

Text reads "2026 Ypsilanti Free Tree Distro", with event information: "Sat. April 18, 2-6pm. Recreation Park, 1017 S. Congress St. Food Provided, 4pm Planting Demo. Elderberry, American Plum, Black Cherry, Redbud, White Pine, Pecan."

The illustration is bordered by the text "for the community by the community", and at the bottom, "No Cops, No Politicians, No Landlords, Abolish ICE"

The Ypsilanti Free Tree distro is back! A community-run event to distribute native and food-bearing trees for planting in people's yards, or anywhere else! We want to build community autonomy, food sovereignty, and a better relationship with the living world. We will be under the pavilion in Recreation Park.

We will have: Elderberry, American Plum, Black Cherry, Redbud, White Pine, and Pecan.

First-come first-served with a limited number of trees for each person. Please make sure you have appropriate space and a plan for your trees beforehand!

We will be raising funds both for Michigan Abolition & Prisoner Solidarity (https://michiganabolition.org/), and to sustain the project. We will also have food, a tree planting demonstration at 4pm, seed sharing, a poetry reading, and more!
